Little Waves is María's own small surf school: small groups, patient coaching, and lessons in English or Spanish.
María is a local surfer from Playa Jacó who started surfing at a young age. Over the years surfing became more than a sport, it became a way of life. Today, sharing that passion and helping others feel the joy of surfing is what makes her happiest.
Every lesson starts with ocean safety and ends with a smile.

I've never surfed. Is that okay?
Yes. Lessons are built for first-timers, and every one starts with an ocean-safety briefing on the sand before you go in.
How long is a lesson?
90 minutes, private or group.
How much does it cost?
$80 for a private lesson, $140 for two people, and $65 per person for three or more. Board, rash guard and the safety briefing are included.
Can kids take lessons?
Yes. María teaches kids and adults, and runs weekly kids surf camps for ages 5 to 16 ($200 per week).
What should I bring?
Your swimsuit, sunscreen and water. The surfboard and rash guard are ready for you.
English or Spanish?
Both. María coaches in English and Spanish.
Where do we meet?
At the south end of Playa Jacó, by Calle Hidalgo. María sends you the exact spot on WhatsApp.
What time are lessons?
It depends on the tide. María picks the best time for your level and confirms it with you on WhatsApp.
